Description/Job Summary
SUMMARY
This is the intermediate level Welder/Fabricator position. He/She will work in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for performing a range of welding and fabricating duties, typically with limited supervision.
Welder/Fabricators perform welding and fabrication of heavy equipment parts to complete assemblies or subassemblies of heavy equipment. He/she will work with a high attention to safety processes and procedures, read and follow all blue prints, production procedures, and work orders to meet production standards and quality expectations. He/She will coordinate work tasks with other departments, such as Engineering, and/or work units to improve work standards, quality and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to)
Read, accurately follow, and translate all engineering and production drawings
Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions
Perform welding & fabrication of heavy equipment parts and assemblies to meet established quality standards, production procedures and efficiency expectations
Work includes set-up, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products
Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications
Flexible may work in different work cells to maximize production as needed
Reliable and dependable to ensure smooth production operations
Work as part of a team coordinating work and assisting in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts
Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position
Inspect equipment to maintain functional equipment if any equipment needs repairs notify supervisor/lead or maintenance department
Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs
Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary by Department or Shift Lead
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
/Experience/Knowledge/
Four (4) years or more years of welding and/or fabrication experience in heavy equipment production-line welding
Safe overhead and Jib crane operation experience

Ability to accurately read and interpret a tape measure, engineering drawings, and bills of material (BOM's)
Ability to apply concepts such as basic math skills, fractions, micrometers, percentages, ratios, proportions to practical situations, and convert decimals into inches
Ability to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement
Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, acting, and communicating with various personalities getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management working both individually and as part of a team
Must express criticisms and concerns in a way that promotes teamwork and a positive work environment
Skill in working efficiently and accurately to keep up with production requirements and stay productive with little supervision
Safe material handling skills in working with steel
Capacity to learn quickly, think independently and problem solve with or without guidance provided by Supervisor
Flexible and adaptable in coping with pressures, deadlines, and rapidly changing situations
Mechanical skills with manual dexterity to perform routine welding activities or tool use
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Eighteen (18) years of age or older
Pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
Provide welding hood and all basic hand tools necessary to perform duties if required
Pass weld and measurement test and accurately read blueprints to be considered for position
Dependability
Willingness to train on first shift if required
Willingness to work any shift when needed
Flexibility to work additional hours when required
PREFERENCES
Welding and/or fabrication experience with similar parts, processes, and welding equipment and procedures
Experience safely operating a forklift
High school diploma general education degree (GED)

Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that all company safety procedures are followed to include OSHA compliance guidelines applicable to the duties above
Attend a weekly department safety meeting
