University of Virginia Lab Technician 2 in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology is seeking a Lab and Research Tech 2 to join the new Adoptive Cellular Therapy Program at UVA. Position participates in all phases of laboratory research and clinical product production using highly specialized techniques emphasizing T cell immunology. Incumbent is involved in the design of experiments, and responsible for completion of projects assigned. Responsibilities include planning experiments, analysis of data, and providing input into the interpretation of data. Incumbent assists in preparation of research protocols and manuscripts.

Qualified applicants must have an Associate's Degree in related science and a minimum of four years laboratory experience, which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree in related science is preferred and may substitute for two years of laboratory experience. Applicants must have excellent knowledge of chemistry, statistics, advanced biology, biochemistry, and mathematics; ability to design and modify experiments; knowledge of laboratory equipment and apparatus; and ability to work with animals on a daily basis. Proficiency in computer programs for data compilation and evaluation, and advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
