Synchrony VP, Health System Product & Engineering Lead in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Synchrony Financial is seeking a new VP level leader for their CareCredit business, to act as the technical product owner of the organization’s health systems platform product. This VP will lead and co-ordinate cross functional teams from design to delivery of client-ready platforms.

The Vice President, Health Systems Product and Engineering Leads is responsible for the creation and execution of a Synchrony’s health systems platform product strategy and that allows us to grow the CareCredit business.

This leader has direct influence with senior leaders across the CareCredit business, and the wider Payment Solutions Group within Synchrony through developing the multi-year platform roadmap, including setting vision, goals, and launching capabilities.

As the health systems technical product leader, you will also collaborate with the Product + Marketing teams, Segment Leaders (Health, Dental, Vision, Animal, Cosmetic, etc) and strategy teams to help activate successful go-to-market launches and leverage our agile framework to create a faster delivery and consumer feedback loop for product enhancements and optimization

This leader will also help sell and implement the platform to new clients, identify and assess potential strategic partnerships, and provide leadership for day-to-day technology operations of the CareCredit business. This is a highly visible position where strong execution, strategic thinking and ELT level communication skills are a must.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with key CareCredit and Payment Solutions leaders to define a technical product roadmap and own the technology strategy supporting profitable sales growth.

  • Act as the lead for execution of strategic technology programs across the CareCredit business.

  • Act as a key partner to 3rd party health systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.) to help drive deeper, more strategic partnerships for the CareCredit business.

  • Be a key business partner to CareCredit’s Strategy leadership, GMs and Product & Marketing leadership.

  • Responsible for ongoing stable operations of a high availability, mission-critical suite of applications and communication to Synchrony commercial teams and clients.

  • Help define the technical product strategy to scale CareCredit’s suite of capabilities from a “point-to-point” environment towards a platform-based technology environment.

  • Be a key leader in the continued development of CareCredit’s API platform strategy to scale their suite of capabilities for partners across the healthcare and care delivery space.

  • Concurrently direct multiple large-scale projects, working across stakeholders to identify responsibilities and dependencies. Initiatives can be focused on technical product development, organizational design, process development, operations or technology.

  • Foster strong partnerships across SYF to ensure full alignment of technical product ownership, and technology strategy, to CareCredit and Payment Solutions goals and objectives

  • Partner with Business Development team to sell credit program to new clients nationwide.

  • Cultivate peer, cross functional and team relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness

  • Identify and solution opportunities to drive new system and process improvements in support of productivity and new business growth. Maintain external focus to benchmark opportunities and to drive new technology introductions, proofs of concept in support of business needs

  • Set the right tone and focus on managing risk, including financial, regulatory compliance and process governance

  • Own and manage financial health and adherence to program and Op Plan budgets

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors with 10+ years of technical product management, applications ownership or platform leadership experience.

  • 5 or more years of product management, or technical product ownership experience, liaising between the busines, product, marketing and engineering, and leading mission-critical large, business critical platforms and teams

  • 5 or more years of management experience

  • 5 or more years of digital experience

  • 3 or more years of healthcare experience, working with the health systems space, ideally with experience helping sell solutions to potential clients

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

  • Strong knowledge of health systems and platforms (EHRs, EPRs, platforms that support secondary care, tertiary care environments, etc). Understanding of payment solutions considered a bonus.

  • Experience with complex technical environments (large scale system integrations, disparate systems, multiple bespoke technology stacks) seen as highly beneficial.

  • Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity and help teams set direction and resolve conflicts

  • Deep domain expertise in use of technology in support of business strategy and growth

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 115,000.00 - 230,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
