Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. The Municipal Products Group (MPG) provides investment banking, municipal derivatives, investor solutions, institutional sales, secondary trading and underwriting services to issuer and investor clients. MPG is comprised of the following businesses: Public Finance Origination, Municipal Sales, Trading, and Underwriting and Municipal Derivatives Trading.
This individual will be responsible for municipal bond sales with Tier 1 Institutional Investors. The goal will be to maximize trading flows and revenues, foster/deepen relationships with Investor Clients, and help grow other team members by acting as a leader in this segment. Day-to-day activity will include selling Primary Product (through Negotiated Public Finance deal flow and Competitive Underwriting bids), focusing on secondary markets by executing risk/riskless/electronic/other trades, and partnering with Capital Strategies to provide solutions related to financing, leverage, hedging, etc. This person will be required to have extensive knowledge of the municipal market industry in all facets and currently maintain significant depth of relationship with Tier 1 Institutional Investors. A strong understanding of relative value, trading spreads, municipal credit, account preferences, and other market dynamics will be required to maximize trade flows. The preferred candidate will be comfortable with both tax-exempt & taxable municipal sales. An additional requirement will be demonstrating the ability to act as a leader, team player, and trusted partner to sales, trading, underwriting and the rest of the Municipal Products Group.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.
This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check. Internal transfers are subject to comply with 17 CRF 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents.
7+ years of experience in capital markets, industry experience within the specific sector of the position, or a combination of both
Successfully completed FINRA Series 7 and 63 (or 66) exams to qualify for immediate registration (or FINRA recognized equivalents)
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Effective organizational, multi tasking, and prioritizing skills
Other Desired Qualifications
10+ years municipal capital markets sales and/or trading experience
Strong relationships and feedback from Tier 1 Institutional Municipal Investors
Strong knowledge of municipal credit and high yield market (taxable and tax-exempt)
Ability to cultivate new relationships
- Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. In addition state registration, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA review process at the time of offer acceptance.
