Oracle DevOps / Cloud Engineer 2 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform detailed design based on provided high level design specifications. Assist in system planning, scheduling and implementation. Build enhancements (including new product features) and resolve bugs. Build and execute unit test and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Interact with QA and porting engineering about problems in the code.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

DevOps / Cloud Engineer 2 (US FedRAMP SaaS Implementation)

The Construction Engineering Global Business Unit (CEGBU) is searching for seasoned DevOps / Cloud Engineers to bring a Software as a Service (SaaS) instance up to US FedRAMP standards. The team is the US focal point for automating and implementing US GovCloud installs of an existing commercial available world-wide SaaS system.

A candidate for this position needs experience troubleshooting issues with applications running on the Linux operating system. Experience with virtual machines, and SELinux (Security-Enhanced Linux) desired but not required. The project has multiple teams with people spread out in multiple time zones.

This position will use a variety of automation tools such as Terraform, Puppet, and Ansible to manage both Windows Server and SELinux virtual servers. Cloud Engineers must configure day-to-day processing as well as alerting errors, processing standards, auditing, and monitoring. Other responsibilities are to automate data replication and all other aspects for high availability and disaster recovery. Team members work with the application and database developers to automate changes; and the Quality Assurance and Production Ops teams to resolve defects. And finally, must also document system settings and changes at the US FedRAMP standards.

Must be able to mentor other team members to get them to a higher skill level, while also learning, learning, learning yourself.

This role is limited to US Persons due to the nature of support for US FedRAMP. US Persons is classified as a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence (Green Card holder) per US code. This position is 100% remote as long as performed within the United States.

  • Ability to resolve issues with applications running on the linux operating system (SELinux even better)

  • Extensive knowledge of web application infrastructure and cloud automation tools

  • Willing to excel in a fast-paced, challenging environment

  • Be able to implement solutions when given rather generic requirements from the US Government

Nice to have already, or willing to learn on the job

  • SE Linux operating system experience

  • System monitoring and alerting (currently Nagios, but moving to Grafana)

  • Database as a Service (DBaaS)

  • Load Balancers as a Service (LBaaS)

  • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

  • Cloud Engineering automation tools:

  1. Puppet

  2. Ansible

  3. Terraform/Terragrunt

  4. Powershell (for Windows hosts)

  5. sh / bash scripting for linux hosts

  6. Jenkins pipelines in Groovy

  7. Source code management tools and concepts

  • US FedRAMP security requirements

  • How to operate in Cloud Environments
