UNC Department of Public Safety Research Project Manager in Chapel Hill, North Carolina
The Research Project Manager will be responsible for a broad range of duties related to planning, organizing, executing, and monitoring the implementation and ongoing operations of complex multi-site research projects.
Duties include: Independently managing all aspects of study start-up, implementation, and close out of multiple complex multi-site studies Training and supervising research staff at UNC Training and monitoring research staff at affiliate sites (when appropriate/applicable) Monitoring and meeting research study milestones (such as recruitment and data collection) Organizing various communications, meetings, conference calls Providing reports to the investigative team Handling research study payments, budgetary documents, and invoicing Developing and updating study protocols and standard operating procedures Modifying, maintaining, renewing IRB and other regulatory documentation Interfacing with coordinators/research assistants to monitor enrollment and data quality Providing quality control of data entry procedures and databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness Assisting with grant and manuscript preparation and submission The role will involve extensive coordination of work and effort and ensuring effective communications within UNC and affiliated sites. The Principal Investigator I will provide overall direction of the projects; however, the lab manager is expected to direct the day to day operations and exercise considerable independent judgment and decision making to manage studies in the lab.
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination. Professionalism/maturity/experience is expected in working with people from a variety of different backgrounds/cultures. Knowledge of and ability to: prepare of abstracts, manuscripts, presentations and grants; manage and track IRB and regulatory guidelines/processes; manage data work flow and monitor project needs; monitor and manage project budgets, invoicing and contracts. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills. Must have flexibility in work schedule.
