Charles Schwab Cybersecurity Privacy Lead in Centennial, Colorado
The Schwab Cybersecurity Services (SCS) organization is a centralized Center of Excellence (COE) that provides security services to advance Schwab’s security posture and enhance the protection of Schwab’s critical assets. The Technology Risk and Cybersecurity Compliance (TRACC) team within SCS supports Schwab’s commitment to safeguarding information and computing resources through the solid cyber and technology risk management practices. As Privacy Lead, you will work within a small team within TRACC with a prioritized focus on identifying new and changed privacy and regulatory guidance and requirements that would potentially impact technology or cybersecurity.
What you are good at
Leading efforts to handle privacy risk from a cybersecurity and information technology perspective across the first line of defense, including activities to implement, assess, and monitor effective privacy risk management;
Providing privacy related input to security standards and other information technology standards as necessary;
Facilitating completion of privacy related assessments (e.g., GLBA, GDPR, etc.);
Engaging in incident response coordination in partnership with the Data Incident Response Team (DIRT);
Coordinating responses to cybersecurity or information technology related inquiries received by the Privacy Compliance team;
Assisting the team with the development and delivery of privacy training;
Assisting Schwab Technology Services and other Schwab Business Units within in effectively safeguarding personal information by providing support and guidance, as necessary. This will work towards ensuring compliance with firm policies and standards, including current Privacy Risk Policy and Privacy Standards;
Implement effective business processes and activities;
Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations; and complete privacy impact assessments (PIAs).
What you have
8+ years of demonstrated ability as a privacy risk practitioner focusing on the safeguarding of personal information;
Bachelor Degree in a related subject area such as Computer Science or Technology is required.
Candidates with IT audit and/or IT controls analysis experience within security are encouraged;
Familiar with the concept of Privacy by Design (PbD) and experience in implementing PbD in organizations;
Demonstrable understanding of regulatory landscape for financial services industry with an emphasis on requirements including: Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Security Breach Information Act (SB 1386), NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulation, and individual state breach notification and cybersecurity laws;
Solid understanding of risk governance frameworks, including NIST CSF, FFIEC, COBIT, and ISO 27001;
Firm grasp of information technology and cybersecurity risk management/governance principles, methodologies, and tools in a financial services environment;
Experience dealing with ambiguous situations and ability to derive clarity;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent track record of building effective working relationships with internal business partners;
Ability to work independently, prioritize and handle multiple projects and succeed in a fast-paced, full workload environment;
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with senior leadership;
Candidates with professional certifications like CDPSE, CISM, CISA, or CISSP are preferred.
