Thermo Fisher Scientific Sr. Business Analyst in Carlsbad, California

The Sr. Business Analystis a project based role that will be responsible for leading the integration of general ledger data into financial and management reporting systems . A key focus of the role will be leading the migration of the current mapping tools for financial data from the existing mapping system (FDM) into the Oracle Data Relationship Management tool (DRM) for several large groups within Thermo Fisher across a broad range of ERP systems. There will be a strong partnership with site finance teams to ensure current financial reporting is not impacted by changes in systems as well as supporting with testing, change management and training. The position will work closely with existing IT and Finance system owners and will help identify opportunities to optimize existing processes and create a roadmap for future project work. This role will also contribute towards the continued focus on a Single Point of Truth (SPoT) for finance with a focus on supporting user adoption of new technology and processes. This position requires the candidate to have a strong finance background coupled with a systems mindset along with having good communication skills to be able to work with and influence a broad range of stakeholders.


  • Coordinate the design and configuration of multiple financial systems for integration projects involving Finance data platforms

  • Liaise with Financial Systems team and IT to set up, configure, test and ensure readiness of key systems such as DRM , FDM and Data warehouses

  • Work closely with technical system owners to ensure all financial related data and mappings in financial reporting and ERP systems are setup to allow accurate, complete and timely financial management reporting

  • Partner with the Data Governance team to ensure systems mapping is compliant with data standards

  • Ensure reliability of financial data in current or future technologies

  • Manage external consultants to ensure project deadlines are met and on budget

  • Utilize resource(s) in a Center of Excellence to enable global coverage and increased speed at which projects can be configured and rolled out.


  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related discipline

  • 5++ years of experience in accounting or finance ideally with consolidation experience

  • Knowledge in several of the following systems: HFM, FDM, DRM, CMR/Essbase, Hyperion Planning, any large ERP with an interest in learning newer technologies such as Databricks , Azure Analytics etc

  • Experience with data warehousing tools is beneficial (i.e. Cognos, Business Objects, QlikView, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, etc.)

  • Experienced in providing training and leading test cycles as well as being strong in change management

  • Familiarity with extract, transform and load (ETL) mapping and ability to perform root-cause analyses and troubleshoot defects

  • Comfortable working with remote teams and communication tools

  • Able to be flexible with working hours to suit project needs (varying time zones)
