Cleveland Clinic Certified Sterile Processing Technician in Canton, Ohio

The Sterile Processing Technician II receives and processes incoming supplies and equipment, performs cleaning and sterilizing duties, and prepares packs of supplies, linens, and instruments.

Position Requirements

  • Runs biological testing at the beginning of every day shift on all steam sterilizers; puts a chemical indicator in every item that is wrapped.

  • Assembles sets according to count sheet and signs sheet.

  • Sterilizes instrument sets by the recommendations for set and air equipment.

  • Processes and stocks specialty carts.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization principles to correctly wrap and/or package items/sets for sterilization.

  • Completes all documentation on requisitions and records in log book.

  • Sorts instrument in the decontamination according to established guidelines.

  • Demonstrates ability to make decisions in absence of the supervisor.

  • Assists with training and in-service for department and new employees.

  • Distributes supplies and equipment to units in a timely manner.

Physical Demands

Heavy Work: Exert up to 100lbs force occasionally; and/or up to 50lbs frequently; and/or up to 20lbs constantly.

Educational, Licensure, & Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma required.

  • Certification for Sterile Processing required.

  • Previous experience preferred.
