Our Neuroscience Next Generation Therapeutics team is an innovation-focused organization striving to identify, develop and apply the most cutting-edge technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. Oligonucleotide-based therapies and other novel modalities represent an existing avenue of research toward development of the next generation of therapies.

The Next Generation Therapeutics group is a newly formed team with a focus on using novel therapeutic modalities to deliver medicines for chronic pain and neuro degenerative disorders. The group, based at our Cambridge Innovation Center in Kendall Square, will work with internal and external partners to identify and deliver new novel therapies into patients at speed. We are seeking hardworking scientists to join our fast-paced, interdisciplinary team as we use innovative RNA/oligonucleotide/gene and genomic based therapeutic modalities to enhance our portfolio.

Key Objectives/Results:

  • Contribute to development of complex IHC/histology/RNAscope based assays

  • Characterize antibodies, conduct reagent evaluation and perform reagent qualification/tissue preparation optimization assessments

  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide scientific and technical input to project teams

  • Collaborate with statistics and bioinformaticians to ensure optimum design of experiments

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations

  • Work within collaborations with external partners, academic institutions, CROs and consultants as required.

  • Maintain an awareness of new / emerging techniques and tools relevant to the field.

  • Design, execute experiments and perform data analysis, creating draft documents and presentations.

  • Provide conceptual input into experimental design, integrated data analysis and communication of results to scientific teams and management

  • Identify and procure automated equipment and contribute to setting up of the new state of the art pathology lab.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSc in Neuroscience, biological sciences or related field

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Hands-on experience of histology, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, including light microscopy & fluorescence microscopy, multiplexed formats, experience with image analysis software

  • Knowledge of relevant software packages: Halo, VisioPharm, Definiens etc.

  • Experience delivering neuropathology-based outcomes

  • Ability to adapt and exercise flexibility for changing platform needs, workflows and projects.

  • Ability to craft, execute and interpret experiments independently, and to advance scientific understanding.

  • Excellent communication skills and efficiency in collaborating across functional boundaries and in team environment

  • Experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data

  • Familiar with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and analytical software associated with methods.

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced working environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Previous experience with oligonucleotide drug discovery is strongly preferred.
