Medical nurses have a solid knowledge of diseases and body systems, and are skilled at multi-tasking and high-level critical thinking. Every patient presents with individual medical, psychosocial, and behavioral needs for whom the medical nurse is skilled at developing and implementing a patient-centered plan of care.Shepardson 3 North is newly established as a medical unit. We are seeking nurses and support staff who have strong team skills and work well with change. The Staff Nurse II functions as an essential member of nursing and multidisciplinary teams, providing direct patient care, instruction, and preparation for continuing care after discharge. May take charge as operational need allows. EDUCATION:State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.EXPERIENCE:Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.Greater than one year of experience.This is a bargaining union position.
