University of Minnesota Physicians Coding Associate in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota

As the multi-specialty group practice for the faculty of the University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Minnesota Physicians has more than 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, providing clinical care in over 100 specialty and sub-specialty areas. This Coding Associate position is responsible for the accurate and timely coding of basic diagnostic, Evaluation and Management and procedural services using ICD-10CM and CPT coding conventions.Ensures accurate diagnoses, procedure codes and other specified data to ensure appropriate/optimal reimbursement for facility and/or professional charges utilizing information from medical records and following established methods and procedures. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Codes basic diagnostic, Evaluation and Management or procedural services applying current billing and coding regulations and policies. Completes billing documents for data entry, ensuring all billing fields are complete and accurate. Ensure that all charges are captured by utilizing reports or processes on a daily basis and following up accordingly. Provide timely feedback to Providers regarding documentation or coding issues; Provide education ongoing as needed. Complete daily Flowcast/Epic work-files and task files as assigned. Performs special projects, as requested. Minimum Qualifications: HS grad or equivalent with medical terminology and some coding knowledge and training. Graduate of an accredited coding program and/or two years of medical billing experience. CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, CCA, RHIT, and/or RHIA Certification achieved within 12 months. Able to interpret and understand medical content, including knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding. Ability to use computer and medical billing systems. Ability to identify and resolve problems. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Highly detailed and organized; demonstrated time management skills and ability to multi-task. Flexible; able to take direction.
