BAMSI Community Specialist - Clubhouse in Brockton, Massachusetts

35 hours Schedule Mon-Fri 8:30a-3:30p

The Employment Coordinator provides necessary supports to enable members to acquire and maintain community based employment in business and industry, including job development. Provide service within the Recovery Model utilizing a person centered approach.

High School Diploma Required with at least 3 years of experience providing services to individuals individuals living with mental illness. A valid driver's license in state of residence and own means of transportation. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

The Clubhouse is designed to facilitate recovery through individual assistance, group support, member involvement in daily operations, peer support, and advocacy. Clubhouse staff provides assistance and support in many areas including community linkages, employment services, education assistance, life skills, housing supports, health and wellness, social and recreational services and outreach

General Statement of Duties: To provide support to Clubhouse Members and to do so in a manner that promotes growth, independence and dignity for those individuals served.

Responsibilities:

1.Organize and facilitate group and individual activities which serve to integrate the lives of Clubhouse Members within their community.

  1. Actively promote the development and implementation of personal goals.

  2. Provide opportunities for social and recreational activities.

  3. Respond to needs and problems of Clubhouse Members with practical guidance and advice geared toward realizing aspirations, cooperation with others, and managing the effects of mental illness.

  • Provide outreach telephonic and in person to Clubhouse Members.
  1. Ensure Clubhouse Member safety and comply with program standards for staff coverage.

  2. Act as consumer advocate and role model.

  3. Communicate in a professional manner.

  4. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor.

  5. Perform duties consistent with program and agency policies and procedures.

  6. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Universal/standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.

Experience providing services to individuals living with mental illness.

• Basic computer literacy, including the ability to record data, use electronic time and attendance software and receive and send electronic mail, as needed, is required.

• A valid driver's license in state of residence.

  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with persons served, families, service providers and case managers

  • The ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods and to move equipment and supplies (up to 30 pounds) from floor level to approximately four feet above floor level

The manual dexterity and visual acuity to promptly and effectively complete keyboarding tasks on a personal computer, and to effectively use the telephone system, mobile devices and other office equipment

• Ability to ascend and descend stairs while transporting supplies

• Must be able to drive up to 2 hours per day

  • Must possess a valid drivers license in state of residence.
