The resort retail manager oversees five gift and retail shops around the resort under the direct supervision of the resort General Manager.

The retail manager is responsible for driving profitable sales growth through all aspects of the store including; product operations, merchandising,. You are responsible for supporting the execution of the store strategy to achieve performance goals.

The resort looks to provide a retail experience of luxury and fashionable merchandise in a boutique environment which is dedicated to providing superior service and a distinctive shopping experience.

  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Gift Shop to ensure compliance with HEI Hotels and Resorts and brand standards, security and financial controls and provide an optimal level of service to enhance the guest experience and maximize profits.

  • Complete gift shop inventory; receive, price, markdown, store and record all items sold and retained in the gift shop to ensure accurate records are maintained and the appropriate stock is on hand.

  • Driving profitable sales, review sales, monitor mix of sales to ensure optimal yielding.

  • Responsible for running shifts in the boutique and working with the SPA, Golf and other retail locations.

  • Drive and adopts fashion style cards within all the Resort retail space through visual merchandising presentations of monthly and seasonal fashion trends.

  • Arrange displays and present the merchandise to attract sales and enhance the appearance of the shop and hotel also seasonally relevant.

  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.

  • Promote sales by using suggestive selling techniques. Ensure that the shop is kept clean, and that displays are attractively merchandised to promote sales.

  • Protect assets against losses and shoplifting.

  • Handle all cash transactions accurately. Follow proper procedures for credit card and room charge transactions and obtain proper identification and department information for all associate discounts. Adhere to the hotel cash handling policies. Practice proper register operation procedures.

  • Assist in the training of new staff to ensure standard operating procedures are communicated and adhered to.

  • Maintain constant communication line with Front Desk Manager in order to keep abreast of all shop related problems, customer requests and fast moving items to maximize sales and guest satisfaction.

  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

  • Required to work within the boutique Coffee Shop as needed.

  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Hotel experience preferred.

  • Requires knowledge of computer equipment or other technical devices and the ability to operate cash register.

  • Requires compiling facts and figures in accordance with established procedures.

  • Requires a working knowledge of retail merchandising and particular aspects of HEI’s services, policies and procedures.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
