NASA Federal Credit Union is looking for an experienced Home Equity Loan Consultant. The Loan Consultant will gather, verify, compile, and analyze home equity loan applications and documents provided by various application conduits to ensure complete, accurate, and timely loan packages are presented to Underwriters (as necessary) and Closers.

This role will contact third party service providers to order and coordinate necessary services within required timelines. It will contact members/applicants to communicate any issues, status updates, and schedule closing.

  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act

  • Reviews residential home equity loan applications to verify that application data is complete and meets established loan underwriting criteria standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, employment

  • Ensures that application data is entered completely and properly in loan software systems.

  • Analyzes applicant, originator, loan officer, or internet provided information to make sure data and coding match purposes intended

  • Contacts third party service providers to order and coordinate necessary services in a timely manner

  • Contacts member applicants to communicate any issues, status and scheduling closing

  • Submits accurate loan files to underwriting for approval

  • Works to quickly eliminate approval conditions for final OK to close

  • Coordinates closing with our mortgage closer and the appropriate branch office if member wishes a branch location closing or coordinates mailing the closing package directly

  • Works closely with members, loan officers and branch staff to communicate issues to be addressed on each loan as appropriate

  • Timely responses to in-house referred members for information and explanation regarding home equity residential lending products and services when appropriate

  • Ensures all regulatory disclosures are in timely compliance and provided to Applicant

  • Minimum of two years Lending / Home Equity processing experience

  • Knowledge of Home Equity lending products

  • Excellent communication skills – written, oral, and listening

  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively

  • Acute sense of urgency, with strong time management skills – meeting critical deadlines/goals with accurate work

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite
