A part of Amazon's Robotics Artificial Intelligence, Canvas Technology isusing spatial AI to provide end-to-end autonomous delivery of goods. By usingstate-of-the-art cameras and other sensors, the system perceives itssurroundings with unrivaled vision and fidelity. The system combines a mix ofhigh-performance sensors with simultaneous localization and mapping softwarethat builds and continuously updates maps in real-time, completelyautomatically. It has the capability to 'see' and identify differentobjects, people, vehicles, and places as it moves and react to movingpeople and vehicles in an intelligent way.We are seeking an experienced Sr. Applied Scientist to be part of our team ofmotion planning scientists and engineers. In this role, you will be expectedto help define a team direction for robot planning algorithms, objectavoidance and congestion management strategies. This will include providingguidance on system architecture and algorithm selection or design. In thisrole you will be directly contributing to the implementation. A successfulcandidate will have strong technical ability, scientific vision, excellentproject management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation toachieve results in a fast paced environment.You will be an integral part of the core robotics team and work with others toimplement robot motion planning systems above and beyond the currentstate-of-the-art in the field.If you are an experienced Scientist, have a track record of delivering totimelines with high quality, are comfortable providing technicaldirection, have mentored and grown engineers and are deeply technical andinnovative, we want to talk to you.Basic Qualifications* PhD in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Machine Learning,Robotics, Statistics or a related quantitative field* 7+ years of research experience in motion planning, path optimization,controls or a related field.* 2+ years of software development experience.* Hands-on architectural or system design experience.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability topresent complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to avariety of audiences.* Strong algorithm development experienceAdvertisementAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
