Description

Monitor activities to minimize the company's exposure to risk. Activities include quantitative analysis, governance, reporting, risk identification and remediation. Represents or supports the reputation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the SBNA Loss Forecasting models for both CECL and IFR, Ensuring business activities and operations are in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and/or regulatory requirements

  • Implement changes to the SBNA allowance models and process in line with controls and governance requirements as required. This includes automating processes and executing UAT

  • Identifies potential risks and assesses impact, probability of occurrence and timeframe.

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to support the qualitative allowance process

  • Supports the business and provides robust guidance, advice and challenge across the organization, helping to ensure reporting requirements are understood, owned and managed to the firm's risk appetite.

  • Facilitates and improves the processes and monitoring of portfolios within credit risks

  • Perform portfolio level analysis to understand results drivers

  • Investigates various risk inquiries, proposals, plans, and makes recommendations as directed by management or at own initiative

  • Maintains a strong rapport with local risk teams to create a strong risk culture of performance and accountability

  • Communicates with Model Development and Model Risk Management partners to ensure deliverables are coordinated and on time

  • Support the SBNA Loss Forecasting month end and quarter-end process including governance, planning, preparation of materials for the Committees, controls tracking and documentation

  • Presents comprehensive risk exposures and recommends process improvements and best practices for implementation to senior management

  • Shares knowledge, coaches, and develops staff capabilities to strengthen understanding of industry and business issues and best practices for implementation

  • Identifies enterprise trends, synergies, and opportunities for change within Risk

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field (required)

  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent area (preferred)

Work Experience

  • 5-9 years in Financial Services Industry experience (required)

  • 5-9 years in Risk, Consumer Operations, Internal Controls, Model Risk, Model Development or related experience (required)

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of risk management practices, identification, resolution and implementation

  • Advanced knowledge of risk management best practices and how to implement them.

  • Commercial awareness.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
