TEKsystems Data Scientist in Bloomington, Illinois

TEKsystems is currently looking for a Data Scientist that will join a top client in Central Illinois. This role will be able to sit 100% remote, but will need to work on a CST based time zone. Description:

Data Scientist shall have the experience and ability to perform the following activities and responsibilities:

• Performs improved visual representation of data to allow clearer communication, viewer engagement, and faster/better decision-making

• Investigates, recommends, and initiates acquisition of new data resources from internal and external data sources

• Works with appropriate teams to support data collection, integration, and retention requirements based on business need

• Identifies critical and emerging technologies that will support and extend quantitative analytic capabilities

• Manages work efforts which require the use of sophisticated project planning techniques

• Applies a wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts in a specific field to provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems

• Develops and maintains an effective network of both scientific and business contacts/knowledge, obtaining relevant information and intelligence around the market and emergent opportunities

• Works with minimum supervision, conferring with supervisor on unusual matters

• Uses specialized knowledge of Application Development tools to develop advanced analytic solutions within complex decision support Applications

• Uses knowledge and experience with statistical techniques to specify parameters of modeling project or analysis

• Leverages business sector opportunities and market dynamics to execute State Farm strategy

• Identifies available and relevant data, including internal and external data sources, to leverage new data collection processes; such as geologic information or social media

• Documents and communicates findings and methods to various audiences - leadership, technical and non-technical, including independent model validation review team

• Performs data consolidation, data cleaning, data normalization in large datasets

• Performs Exploratory Data Analysis to understand and find the truth about the data

• Performs feature engineering, feature transformation, feature generation using existing dataset

• Develops multiple types of ML models, performs parameter tuning for supervised/ unsupervised learning techniques viz

o Clustering

o Dimensionality reduction

o Classification (Binomial and Multinomial)

o Linear regression

• Applies Model ensemble and model stacking techniques to get the best performance from models

• Leverages Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, matplotlib and SciPy libraries

Data Scientist Technical Skills Required:

• Python (multiple versions), Spark, Hadoop, and Docker with an emphasis on good coding practices in a continuous integration context, model evaluation and experimental design

• Git for version control, test driven development (prefer py.test / nose), and experience with NLP preferred

• Experience with Big Data Projects using multiple types of structured and unstructured data

• Deep Learning methods

• TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras
