POSITION SUMMARY

The Design System Lead Analyst is a key part of Express Scripts’ mission to improve the lives of the 80+ million people we serve. In this role you will operate equal parts designer, strategist, technologist, culture carrier and craftsman/woman. As a member of the Design System Team, you will work closely UX Engineering, Software Engineering and UX Design teams to drive adoption and success of our Design System. You will be involved from discovery through vision, iteration and socialization, to roadmap planning, delivery, documentation and training.

In day-to-day role, you will craft, evolve, and maintain UI/UX patterns, components, documentation and guidelines that help designers, developers and writers build cohesive end to end experiences that our members love; partner with developers and other technical partners to successfully translate components to pixel perfect live products; collaborate with other technology teams to ensure the central design system services the evolving needs of our product delivery teams; while balancing beauty, usability and accessibility to deliver a design system that is truly built for all.

You will also:

  • Support a massive overhaul of our design system, including working closely with product, technology, brand and marketing.

  • Create a culture of collaboration, sharing and trust between teams working on a wide range of products. Evolve our visual language in partnership with our brand and product evolution.

  • Contribute to discovery work tracks, and help to develop a POV on future experiences in healthcare.

  • Inspire and elevate design across our internal community of technologists through workshops, office hours, demos and design sprints.

  • Work dual track to deliver an enhanced and modern B2C/B2B design system that scales for audiences of varying abilities, platforms and devices; from laptops, desktops, phones, tablets, wearables and emerging technologies.

  • Make inclusive design and accessibility a key part of all of our products.

  • Be a champion for, and ambassador for the design system, helping to socialize it and increase adoption across the technology organization internally.

  • Become a part of the external Design System community and increase our participation and influence on this topic.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be equally versed in UI and UX best practices (visual, interaction, motion) with a thorough technical understanding of React and front end engineering. Drupal experience a plus. High proficiency in Sketch and modern design tools to explore and communicate interaction, visual, and motion design concepts, while also helping to maintain intuitive and highly usable design files across the org. A passion for design and creating great digital experiences. Previous experience building and implementing a design system with reusable design patterns, documentation and components. Must have live production examples to share.

QUALIFICATIONS

1+ years of experience in building or contributing to a design system. 2+ years of experience as a product designer, user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, front end engineer or similar role. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant discipline preferred. (e.g., User Experience Design, Service Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction) Portfolio required showing prior experience with Design Systems. Well versed in Agile / Scaled Agile / Scrum. Front end code and motion design for UI preferred.
