Cigna Senior Business Architect-Data Measurement & Reporting in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Role Summary:

The Senior Data Measurement & Reporting Business Architect within Global Data & Analytics’ (GD&A) Measurement & Reporting Business Unit (M&R) is a singular pivotal role centered between the designated Stakeholder / Process Owner (Business) and the diverse M&R Functional Delivery Teams and COEs. The business architect serves as a dynamic communication and engagement catalyst; discovering, understanding and translating the Stakeholder business needs and then equally engaging across the M&R landscape to source, collaborate, solution and deliver across the M&R disciplines such as Data, BI, and Service Delivery & Support.

Through their direct engagement with Stakeholders and M&R Teams, the business architect becomes the primary source to collect, document, rationalize, summarize and communicate the complexities, needs and opportunities within their assigned Stakeholder / Customer portfolios.

The business architect is jointly accountable along with designated Stakeholder(s) and all MR Leads for identifying opportunities within GD&A and our aligned Business partners to address opportunities to reduce Cost-Of- Care, reduce or eliminate redundancy, leverage authoritative data, improve efficiency using automation as needed, and enhance the internal and external customer experience; and will be measured based on improvements to unit cost, reduction in Cost-of-Care user satisfaction and adoption / utilization metrics.


  • Responsible for partnering with GD&A /Measurement & Reporting Team Members and IT /Technical partners to rationalize the current environment and evolve to the next generation of scalable processes & solutions which incorporate quality, scalability, use of authoritative data, optimized automation and self-service.

  • As assigned by the M&R Senior Leader; to fully own the Stakeholder engagement, analysis, prioritization, co-documentation and recommendation of selected business opportunities or problem within a defined Stakeholder / Business Unit(s)

  • Research and capture current state ability of a process to deliver value in an optimized and streamlined manner, to identify and rationalize risk mitigation needs, opportunities and potential solutions that will enhance value.

  • Works with the designated M&R Product Owners to ensure that Product Features accurately represent the needs across the Cigna GD&A teams and recognizes opportunities for alignment and synergy.

  • Serves as a resource to the appropriate M&R Product Owners, to provide supporting business and solution context, information and relative priority needed to support Agile delivery.

  • Collaborates with Stakeholder and M&R Teams to craft a vision of an evolved end-state as well as assist with defining, documenting and communicating appropriate plan(s) to move from current state towards the desired end state and achieve the required business value.

  • Identify the relevant business-focused KPI measures to monitor the effectiveness of a process, an improvement, a value stream, or an overall set of Services

  • Through the use of strong Stakeholder / M&R Delivery Team relationships and sustained strategic focus; continually identify additional business opportunities, problems, efficiencies, synergies and unmet VOC needs across the GD&A Business Units (Verticals) which can be solutioned through M&R capabilities.


  • Bachelor's Degree; Master’s Degree in Business or Analytics preferred (or comparable work experience).

  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience working with business intelligence, process and data requirements analysis, process improvement, process and data analysis, data management and/or software development

  • Transferrable experience in Operations, Service Delivery, Service Level Management

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully analyze, measure and recommend solutions within complex delivery streams across people, process and technology

  • Experience in Healthcare or similar service industry; and a proven track record of delivering in a globally distributed and complex regulated environment.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Business and Process Acumen: Appreciation and understanding of how to leverage Data & Analytics capabilities within the Health Care/Insurance services industry in order to make sound business decisions and accelerate business growth and value delivery.

  • Team player with strong interpersonal and engagement skills across a broad set of stakeholder profiles.

  • Detail oriented with creative analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Independent, self-starter, empowered and possessing the drive and ability to learn new concepts quickly.

  • Six Sigma /Lean Six training and experience desired, but not required
