Cigna Application Development Sr. Advisor - Evernorth in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Cigna is seeking an Application Development Advisor to join the IT Operations SI L2 Production Support team supporting over 1 billion monthly service transactions. They will function as a bridge to the delivery teams, drive efficiencies, and provide quick turn around and quality resolution of production defects that are impacting customers. The resource will also provide an on call support for critical issues that may occur outside of regular business hours. Additionally, the candidate will provide counsel and advice to management on significant Application Development matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. They will act as a principal liaison between L2 and L3 teams for complex major systems and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs. The resource will research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective application programming solution. They will also focus on providing thoughtful leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines and will be a "go-to” person for complex Production Support problems.

This position is with Evernorth, a new business within the Cigna Corporation.

This role is Flex which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and reviews incidents reported by business teams.

  • Facilitates bridge calls in the event of critical job failures in production.

  • Assigns or escalates defects to the delivery team and sees cases through completion.

  • Collaborates with Delivery teams to meet standard SLA for resolving production defects.

  • Initiates Change Management tickets as needed for reporting change orders and/or releases.

  • Maintains process and troubleshooting documentation to be utilized by both US-based and offshore Production Support resources.

  • May be assigned to special projects that drive continuous improvement of services and production support processes.

  • Maintain automated processes/health check scripts (i.e. soapUI, Postman)

  • Monitor multiple tools (e.g. soapUI, Dynatrace, Splunk) for any production issues

  • Work With stakeholders across various development, operations and quality teams

Skills & Qualifications:

  • At least five years experience in a production support role.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or higher strongly preferred.

  • At least two years experience of Java.

  • Knowledge of utilizing API clients such as soapUI or Postman to run/analyze APIs.

  • Above all else - great attitude, passion, collaborative, great communicator (spoken & written).

  • In-depth working knowledge of and best practices in the administration and use of monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace)

  • Excellent analytic troubleshooting skills and data driven testing techniques

  • Self-starter that takes initiative to solve problems and learn quickly to fill knowledge gaps

  • Strong focus on customer/business outcomes and is focused on results

  • Self-motivated, quick learner and excellent customer service skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple issues and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Remove obstacles and barriers to allow self to complete tasks and escalate appropriately.

Must be a current contractor with Cigna, Express Scripts, or Evernorth. Evernorth is a new business within the Cigna Corporation.
