Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Quality Engineer for Numerical Control to join the 777x Composite Fabrication Program in St. Louis, MO.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The quality engineer will work in an environment to plan, create and revise inspection programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM s), on machine probing and laser trackers.

  • The Inspection Media is primarily used by Quality Inspectors to verify the products we produce conform to engineering requirements.

  • Candidate must be able to understand the customers’ needs and use their knowledge of the manufacturing and quality system to support and resolve technical concerns.

  • The quality engineer is involved in the integration of creating standard programming work and new inspection techniques that promote consistent reliability and process improvement.

  • The quality engineer works within a team environment to consistently improve the process of measuring, and assures products conform to engineering data.

  • Candidate should be willing to assist customers and peers on managing inspection programs and results.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Associate’s degree or higher

  • 1+ year of experience with Numerical Control (NC) programming and/or programming Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM)

  • 1+ years of experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD), utilizing model-based definition (Catia V5 or later versions)

  • 1+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

  • Competency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Must have the capability to work independently as a programmer, along with strong teaming skills.

  • Experience maintaining configuration of inspection programs.

  • Previous metrology experience

  • Experience with QA (Quality Assurance) organization and procedures used to address customer quality concerns.

  • Experience in Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.
