Pyramid Hotel Group Accounting Manager in Berkeley, California

The Residence Inn by Marriott Berkeley is a new 17-story hotel with 331 suites, located at 2129 Shattuck Avenue in downtown Berkeley, California, 94704 adjacent to the Museum of Modern Art. Steps away from the University of California, Berkeley and across the street from direct access to San Francisco and Oakland California via BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit System). The ground floor will include an expansive hotel lobby, breakfast space and gathering areas to work or socialize. The Hotel has an Outdoor Public Terrace at level 3, with approximately 9,000 square feet of flexible indoor function space. An Outdoor Bar, Restaurant and Deck on the 12th floor provides guests with sweeping views of the beautiful East Bay Hills and World Famous University of California, Berkeley.

Located in the heart of Downtown Berkeley, this 17 story property with 331 suites will feature over 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space and a rooftop restaurant and bar with expansive and inspiring views of the city.

At this time, we are seeking a disciplined, focused, detail oriented accounting professional to join us as our Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain sound internal control systems

  • Direct responsibility over all areas of hotel’s daily accounting functions

  • Establish or recommend to management major economic objectives and policies for Hotel.

  • Support General Manager and hotel financial goals by direct preparation of monthly and annual reports summarize and forecast hotel’s revenues, expenses, and earning based on past, present and expected operations.

  • Complete and/or supervise completion of daily office responsibilities including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, night audit and income audit, general cashier and payroll processing.

  • Compile, verify accuracy and submit necessary reporting and information to necessary parties

  • Ensure deadlines are consistently met with daily, weekly and monthly accounting related tasks and requirements

  • Ensure implementation and compliance with Financial Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Ensure the collection of applicable occupancy, local and state taxes.

  • Assist with budget preparation.

  • Additional duties as necessary and assigned.

Local residents are encouraged to apply

  • Previous accounting experience required

  • Previous accounting experience in a hotel setting preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required

  • Strong computer skills required

  • Previous experience working with various accounting programs a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws
