Training Analyst (Instructional Designer) - Training Development

Function Overview

The Training Instructional Designer will be an important member of the Consumers Services organization, and the Competency Development area. The Instructional Designer will work cooperatively with a wide array of departments internal and external to Whirlpool Corporation. The position primarily supports our Consumer Services organization through the execution of an effective learning strategy in the areas of Instructor-Led, Virtual Instructor-Led, and eLearning curricula. A successful Training Analyst will have experience aligning with adult learning theory and methodologies. They will use their instructional design expertise to create training solutions for a performance problem within a specialty team. The Training Analyst will have particular aptitude for maintenance and improvement of the supportive infrastructure of the training & development function. This position requires the ability to create sound course materials and delivers adult learning solutions with the assistance of multimedia development.

This position may be based in one of 3 locations: Southwest MI, Cleveland, TN, or Knoxville, TN with the expectation to be onsite (where applicable) or collaborate with local colleagues in person as needed based on the respective location.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create engaging and effective learning products geared to produce behavior change and increased levels of performance in the learner

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to determine learning objectives, training solutions, and other performance enhancement solutions

  • Complete needs analyses with closed-loop suggestions for Operations Management on performance issues

  • Design interactive courses using adult learning principles, applied to both in-person instruction and alternative delivery, e.g. web-based instruction, informal learning

  • Skillfully utilize content development software to create a variety of materials

  • Create job aids and other performance-improving documentation as needed

  • Maintain, update, and improve materials, systems, structures, and processes so they remain up-to-date and relevant

  • Perform LMS administrative tasks such as troubleshooting, password and course maintenance

  • Revise and update current training materials according to the system and design changes

  • Utilize continuous improvement methodology in improving curriculum and supportive resources

  • LMS Administration, including but not limited to: uploading and maintenance of courses, reporting, password resetting, troubleshooting, and assigning courses & curriculum

  • Work collaboratively with process partners to create mutually satisfying training outcomes

  • Attend project meeting(s) and work collaboratively with the project team(s)

  • Manage various projects simultaneously

  • Work cross-functionally with Consumer Services Leadership, Internal Business Partners, Knowledge Stakeholders, and CARE Experts

  • Assist with change management regarding the creation and improvement of new and existing customer service and product information

  • Manage training projects and be a willing project team member on both team and individual projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree

  • 1+ years of experience with Instructional Design

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in designing Technical, Sales, Leadership and Service-related training curricula

  • CPLP Certification (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance)

  • Experience with industry best practices such as adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, ATD Standards)

  • Experience with learning management systems, Google portfolio of products and virtual classrooms

  • Superior oral and written communication, organization, project management, and presentation skills are necessary to be successful in this role
