Test Engineer

We’re a team of expert engineers responsible for the development of all test cases and test tools to ensure the functionality and compatibility of our products. We’re involved in the whole testing process from preparing test and diagnostic programs to recommending changes in testing equipment procedures and designing new testing equipment.

What you’ll achieve

As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and documenting test plans and test cases for newly developed or current hardware and solutions products based on the Business Contract product specifications. You will collaborate with designers and technologists to determine test requirements and develop test tools for test projects.

You will:

  • Validate Firmware/Driver of NIC, Telco and Converged Network Adapters in Dell Servers across different Operating Systems.

  • Understand the test strategy and contribute towards translation of test scenarios to test cases.

  • Test bed/Test config bring-up as per the hardware configuration matrix.

  • Troubleshoot system/component issues (HW/SW). Characterize and assist in Root Cause Analysis of the defects

  • Report test execution progress and issues to the engineering team, and manage the issues from creation to closure.

  • Work with Development to resolve product issues discovered during test

  • Execute test automation scripts, identify opportunities for increased use of test automation

Essential Requirements

  • Working experience with Network Adapter functional and integration testing into server environment.

  • Good understanding of enterprise server (CPU, SoC, chipsets, BIOS, Firmware, Drivers), networking technologies.

  • Must have PCIe specification/protocol understanding.

  • Hands-on configuring DHCP, PXE servers, Link aggregation (in Linux, ESXi, Windows) and worked on technologies such as RDMA, SR-IOV, WoL, NPAR/NPAR-EP

  • Hands-on expertise with Ethernet based Layer 2 VPNs, VLAN switching, STP, Data center bridging along with QoS such as PFC, ETS, Congestion Notification etc..

  • Configuring multi-vendor switches (Dell, Cisco), storage arrays such as Dell Storage SC8000 Array, EqualLogic.

  • Hands-on with SAN protocols and implementation- iSCSI, FC, FCoE.

  • Should have good conceptual understanding of OS, Hypervisors, Storage and Networking subsystems

  • Experience with network test equipment – Protocol/PCIe Analyzers, Load Generators (Ixia, IxChariot, Medusa tools etc)

  • Clear understanding of defect characterization and able to demonstrate troubleshooting given a scenario.

Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 3+ years of Network Interface Card Firmware/Driver validation experience

  • Prior experience validating NIC, CNA, IB cards of Intel, NVIDIA, Broadcom, Marvell adapters is an added advantage.

  • Hands-on exposure to VMware ESXi server and vCenter Server, understanding of other virtualization technologies will be a plus.

  • Working experience with scripting languages such as Python

  • Must be self-directed. Should be a very good team player

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
