JOB TITLE: Senior Cloud Capability Architect
MAIN JOB PURPOSE
Reporting into the Capability Lead, the Senior Capability Architect is responsible for creating, delivering and assuring a catalogue of consumable services and building blocks that underpin all delivery by the Enterprise Compute team. Bringing vendor and industry expertise and thought leadership to the table, and in conjunction with both Enterprise Architecture and the PEM Design & Advisory functions, the role holder will contribute to, and support the development of a technical capability roadmap across all platforms within the Capability remit.
The Senior Capability Architect will identify, develop a case for and drive new capabilities through the entire lifecycle from idea, through evaluation and proof of concept, commercial and business case activity and through to QA support for capability embedding by engineering teams.
Define, deliver, and maintain high level designs, technical building blocks and capabilities that covers all IT Platforms and underlying technologies such as Server, Storage, DB, Virtualization, orchestration, and tooling to be consumed within the Solutions Delivery process.
Contribute to the technical roadmap, based on demand from the EA, PEM, Estates & Environments and Service Operations communities that articulates functionality, timelines and benefits across a medium-term horizon (12 to 24 months)
Develop proof of value, business case and TCO, High Level Technical Design through to specification and embedding activity by engineering capability.
Participate in the Technical Governance Board to ensure guiding principles, standards and policies are fit for purpose and adhered to across design and delivery functions.
Deliver on commitments made to the project communities through maintaining a resource plan and detailed delivery schedule, targeting on time, cost and value outcomes as per designs.
Maintain and facilitate relationships with technology vendors & service providers to identify new market capabilities, align solution standards & design with industry & technology best practices.
Ensure the future skill needs of the organization are defined and embedded within personal appraisals and work plans, and personal development and succession planning is routinely conducted
Create focus on Audit and Risk needs of Unilever for the function, demonstrating ownership and resolution of any observations and findings to a defined schedule.
Manages third party supplier relationships and internal stakeholders within Unilever to ensure that any capability changes and platform strategy do not compromise the integrity, security and operational performance of existing services and technology.
Leads and develops a technical pool of SME resource by planning resources, skills and the activities of the teams in the light of anticipated customer demands and operational projects to ensure sufficient resources and skills are available.
Against significant cost pressures the role must continually re-invent how things are delivered to consider regional & global challenges, rapidly changing technology, cost challenges and a hugely varied supply landscape
At least 10+years experience in IT & 4+years’ in Architecture or technical capability experience in the relevant field, ideally in a TOGAF environment.
Significant exposure to GCP, MS Azure, AWS, IBM, HP, Cisco and Microsoft technologies, as a senior leader, in a business with rapid change and focus on optimization of both hardware, OS and DB.
Architect Level Certification in GCP or MS Azure is preferred
Hands on exp in Deployment of applications on Cloud platform is required.
With a desire for Platform autonomy, embed a continuous improvement activity to build opportunities for automation, self-service and DevOps based agility.
Demonstrate design experience for transition and transformation across On-Premise, Private and Public Cloud capabilities.
Preferred high level of professional accreditation combined with a wide-reaching knowledge across capability and service disciplines.
Proven communicator who drives empowerment through collaboration and influencing.
Exudes technical credibility and exercises independent judgment and decision-making.
Excellent overall knowledge of wide areas of IT practice and applications.
Excellent business awareness, understanding the broader context in which IT delivery has an impact on overall business performance.
Excellent Supplier Relationship Management, negotiation, and commercial skills
Able to make an immediate impact with suppliers and customers.
Demonstrable experience of ITIL principles and Service Management benchmarking
