Security Technical Program Managers (STPMs) play a critical role within Salesforce Security. They lead large-scale, cross-functional security initiatives focused on developing, protecting and maintaining our customers trust. STPMs are responsible for seeing programs through from beginning to end, ensuring efficient workflows, driving to measurable results and facilitating with effective communication. They work closely with executives and key company stakeholders to drive critical programs and activities across the company to deliver meaningful business results. In short; the STPM brings together teams, organizes efforts and drives execution to continuously increase our security posture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a collaborative environment that fosters creativity, innovation, automation and learning.

  • Work across teams to effect department-wide performance improvement with our internal and external customers by designing and implementing processes, metrics, and programs which enhance the overall customer experience.

  • Initiate programs and create alignment on program planning. Bring teams together to define the business objectives, program structures, and cross-functional support necessary to succeed.

  • Collaborate with senior managers and engineers to architect and develop the best technical and operational design and approach, delivering value quickly to customers

  • Lead regular review meetings with key stakeholders. Provide transparent updates, help drive key decisions, pro-actively remove obstacles, identify risks and address key program issues.

  • Drive to ensure business objectives are met and each program delivers on its commitments.

  • Provide regular visibility to program status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics, etc.) on an ongoing basis through push status reporting (to all stakeholders, team members, and interested parties).

  • Actively manage dependencies across multiple teams, functions, divisions, and stakeholders.

  • Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent project teams from delivering on project goals.

  • Develop strong partnerships with functional leaders to drive focus on business objectives. Be a trusted partner for executive management to ensure program success.

  • Audit completed projects to verify sustained impact and ensure compliance to Information Security policies

  • Be a thought leader within the organization, someone who can help advance our security strategy globally and challenging others to move beyond the current state.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent)

  • 10+ years of experience working in the field of computer security and risk management or 10-15+ years of enterprise software/technical program or engineering management experience at an enterprise technology company.

  • Outstanding record of complex program management with a record of success in achieving key business outcomes

  • Demonstrated use of professional, repeatable methodology for initiation, work breakdown, scheduling, reporting, risk and change management

  • Ability to communicate effectively with developers, product managers and senior business leaders.

  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

  • Skilled in risk management. Can perform business and project risk analysis to make complex business/risk trade-off recommendations and decisions

  • Strong written, verbal and data visualization communication and presentation skills with the ability to tailor to a wide range of audiences (from C-level to individual contributor)

  • Possess an understanding of information security, privacy frameworks, and related compliance requirements

  • Technical knowledge in multiple security domain areas such as engineering, applications, system and network security, authentication or security protocols

  • Excellent leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field

  • Understanding of threat modeling, scanning and patching.

  • Ability to understand a wide array of technical subjects and technologies relevant to the program.

  • Exceptional organizational, project management, analysis, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated passion for understanding ambiguous, complex problems and driving high-quality, innovative, and robust technical solutions

  • Independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction.

  • Experience building solutions in distributed systems and/or developing large scale web applications

  • Experience with agile/iterative development and program management methodologies

  • Experience with service-oriented architectures and web services security

  • Comfortable balancing between tactical and strategic deliverables.

  • Ability to manage/juggle competing priorities without loss of efficiency.

  • Experience working with large data sets to drive changes in long term trends.

  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members using polished written and verbal skills.

  • Ability to successfully collaborate with all functions functions across the entire company.
