An opportunity has arisen in the Belfast Markets Legal Department for a prominent negotiator role supporting certain key businesses within Citi’s Institutional Client Group. This role will involve working closely with Citi’s external clients as well as Sales, EMEA and Global Product Heads and Citi Product Legal Counsel in negotiating, reviewing and analysing legal documentation for the key businesses in which we support.
Supports the firm's global derivatives business by providing essential negotiation and contract administration support for the firm's International Swap and Derivatives Association (ISDA) contracts (and associated key trading infrastructure documentation)
Responsible for all stages of the contract process from the initial drafting through execution
Ensures complex and high volume business negotiations be conducted in a timely, thorough and efficient manner
Supports Platinum clients and expected to provide additional services as well as maintain a standard workload of negotiations in a timely and organized manner
Consistently follows up with unresponsive customers, maintaining detailed records of the negotiations along with a committed effort to stay abreast of new and changing regulatory and legal issues and industry initiatives
Extensive interaction with the firm's institutional clients and their internal/external counsel as well as coordination with the firm's trading/sales, legal, credit and tax areas in order to contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements
Applies in-depth understanding of how associated risks differ depending on product and documentation envisaged in relevant jurisdiction(s) and provides advice to the Risk function and business partners accordingly
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Relevant legal experience
Comprehensive proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Excellent interpersonal skills and exercise good and mature judgment
Excellent grasp of the relevant legal concepts
Ability to work independently and with limited direct supervision.
Detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills
