Delaware North Shuttle Driver, Peaks of Otter in Bedford, Virginia

The Opportunity

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is searching for a Class B (CDL) Commercial Shuttle Driver to join our team at Peaks of Otter in Bedford, Virginia. In this role, you will drive hotel guests.

We are seeking candidates with a passion for guest service that enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Associates receive a free employee meal during each shift. All associates that stay until the end of the season will receive $100 bonus for each month worked!


  • Drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations to ensure that passengers have a smooth and safe ride.

  • Describe tour points of interest to those on the tour and respond to questions.

  • Monitor tour attendees activities to ensure compliance with establishment or tour regulations and safety practices.

  • Greet and register attendees, and issue any required identification badges or safety devices.

  • Research various topics, including site history, environmental conditions, and attendee's skills and abilities to plan appropriate expeditions, instruction, and commentary.

  • Assemble and inspect the required supplies and equipment prior to departure. Provide for physical safety of groups, performing such activities as providing first aid and directing emergency evacuations.

  • Assist with the training of other guides and volunteers.

  • Wash, dry and detail the exterior of the vehicles(s) being used for tours/transportation.

  • Complete any necessary administrative paperwork such as product requisition requests, meal order forms, shift closing documents and vehicle inspection sheets.

  • Maintain the drive log recording each shuttle time of departure, current mileage, departure location, destination location and total number of passengers.


  • Active Commercial Drivers License B with at least 6 months experience in driving with Commercial Drivers License B.

  • Associate's degree in history preferred.

  • Prior tour industry experience preferred.

  • Possess the ability to drive in all types of weather conditions to include but not limited to snow, sleet, rain, hail, sunshine, wind and overcast. Must be able to drive on mountain roads.

  • Ability to navigate Office365 programs successfully with minimal assistance.

  • Ability to speak languages in addition to English is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and bending.

  • Requires occasional sitting, squatting or kneeling.

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • Requires frequent pulling of up to 40 lbs.

  • This position is an outdoor activity more than 95% of time.

  • Weather conditions may include, but not limited to snow, rain, sleet, hail, wind, sun, shade, cool, warm.
