In 2019 the Partnership for Public Service established an office in California, home to the largest population of federal employees outside of the Washington, D.C., region. Building on our successful track record working with federal agencies, partners and other stakeholders in Washington, D.C., and across the country, we are implementing a range of initiatives while identifying and exploring new areas for organizational growth. Through our efforts, we are: supporting cross-sector collaboration, particularly facilitating partnerships among federal agencies and stakeholders in state and local government and the private and nonprofit sectors; working with agencies to identify urgent talent needs of the federal civil service in California and engaging colleges and universities in building talent pipelines; and developing key relationships to foster awareness of and support for our programs.
The associate manager supports our programming in California and helps establish key relationships along with an organizational presence on the West Coast. In addition, the associate manager supports other Partnership programming related to improving government effectiveness and building strong networks of support for our work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and maintain relationships with federal agencies and nonprofit and private sector stakeholders to expand the Partnership’s network of partners and further our long-term impact.
With senior-level oversight, manage deliverables or key components of large projects.
Organize events and convenings with federal employees and other cross-sector stakeholders.
Coordinate and facilitate internal planning meetings and project meetings with external partners.
Support the management of project budgets and project management reporting, as well as supporting the management of several grant proposals.
Analyze evaluation data for project effectiveness, offering a point of view and making recommendations to maximize impact and solve problems.
Synthesize information and use it to create a clear and concise approach to executing work and deliverables.
Connect West Coast programming to and support the Partnership’s work more broadly.
Demonstrate developed written, oral and presentational skills and manage external and internal program communications.
Strong project management skills, with demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage various priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication, analytical, writing and presentation skills.
Excellent relationship management skills, particularly in building effective partnerships with external stakeholders.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional work or military experience required.
Minimum of two to four years of professional experience required.
Familiarity using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint required.
Experience working in California or across sectors a plus.
Experience working in the federal or public sector environment preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY/REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports to a manager or senior manager. This position may supervise interns.
Preferred location is on the West Coast. This position requires consistent use of office equipment such as computer, telephone, printer and scanner. Please note that as a result of COVID-19, Partnership staff are currently working remotely.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position with regular work hours Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There may be occasional evening or weekend activities required.
This position requires out-of-state, overnight travel for approximately five days every month or every other month. Local travel to various federal agencies will be required.
