Volvo Group Chief Accountant in Bangsaothong, Thailand

Purpose of the job :

Financial compliance is defined as meeting all statutory requirements and internal Volvo Group requirements as described in policies, directives and in Financial Policies and Procedures (FPP). The responsibilities of the Chief Accountant are handled in the following primary functions; Accounting Services and Company Control.

  • Accounting Services (AS), focusing on transactional volume based deliveries from centralized delivery centers, mainly within general accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivables

  • Company Control (CC) with the overall responsibility for financial compliance in assigned business areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting in Volvo Bus Thailand

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data, company expenditure, cash flow, credit review and application, overdue listing and banking facilities

  • Produce and ensure company financial reports or statements and accounting records are correct, accurate, and that every transaction complies with company policy, local tax regulation as well as statutory requirements

  • Manage the month end, quarterly and annual financials (P&L, BS and CFS), business consolidation system reporting and preparation for annual audit

  • Ensure that all closing activities are completed on time according to closing schedule with all records properly reconciled

  • Preparation and maintenance of statutory records and reports, filling annual returns (Financial Statements, Tax returns, VAT etc.)

  • Ensure compliance with internal control objectives, local GAAP’s and Financial Policies and Procedures

  • Prepare board of director’s material relating to financial information

  • Review corporate income tax calculation of the company including PND.50 and 51

  • Prepare tenders documentations and all deal sheet P&L for decision making

  • Coordinate with business/operation for yearly physical inventory count and physical fixed asset count

  • Coordinate preparation of work papers for annual audit and cooperates with requests for information by the external and/or internal auditors

  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles

  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions

  • Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned by General Manager, Volvo Bus Thailand

In addition, the Chief Accountant is expected to support human resource and office administration for Volvo Bus Thailand:

  • Manage payroll (including expenses/claims), pension, social security and tax return in adherence to statutory requirements

  • Ensure employee records, HR handbook, policies and processes are updated and maintained in accordance with local legislation

  • Administer employee health, welfare and benefits programs and support the handling of related claims

  • Support recruitment, induction of employees and provide operational HR support and advisory to managers and employees

  • Consolidate training needs and arrange necessary training to employees to accomplish work requirements

  • Monitor and manage general and office administration including insurance coverage of company’s properties & assets, company car leases and new assets purchases

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting & Finance or equivalent

  • Good understanding and skills of financial/accounting system and software, i.e. SAP, BW as well as technology and productivity tools including MS Office, Excel & PowerPoint.

  • 8 to 10 years of progressive financial and accounting control experience or background preferably in the automotive industry

  • Demonstrated financial and accounting control experience with global multinational companies

  • Candidate with experience in human resource and office administration or a start-up environment will have an added advantage

  • Highly analytical, proactive, forward-thinking and solution-focused

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence, build strong relationships work with non-finance colleagues and collaborate cross-functionally

  • Structured and driven personality with high integrity, strong perseverance and desire to always improve

  • Ability to work independently in a flexible, dynamic and multi-cultural environment and to meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in both English and Thai language is required
