Northern Light Health Registered Nurse- Office in Bangor, Maine
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide nursing care in physician practices, including triaging phone calls of patients complaining of chest pain, shortness of breath, and other acute symptoms, assist with procedures and recovery, respond to critical lab results, assist with admissions and walk-in chest pain patients, serve as back-up for CHF and Coumadin clinics. Help to facilitate efficient daily flow for office patient visits. Assist with clinical education of patients and staff.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of cardiac or acute care nursing experience. Licensed at an RN level by the State of Maine Board of Nursing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least 3 years of nursing experience in Cardiology Department or Acute Care Setting. ACLS Certification.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Cardiac nursing experience.
OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: The RN needs to be professional as well as knowledgeable, responsible, and accountable to manage patient care over the continuum and to assist in improving quality, cost, and patient/service satisfaction outcomes. The RN will be responsible for the assessment, triage of patient needs and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The RN needs excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills as well as computer literacy including, but not limited to the electronic medical record, electronic data entry, retrieval and report generation. ACLS Certification, excellent documentation and assessment skills. Proficient in IV's. Ability to read and speak English fluently.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to tolerate extended period of computer and telephone use. Must be able to assist in patient transfers from wheelchair to exam table, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, continuous standing and walking, periodic bending and stooping.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Busy office setting, physician's offices and clinical settings.
