Arrow Child and Family Ministries Teacher in Baltimore, Maryland

As aiSpecial Education Teacheriin our nonpublic day school serving students in grades 6-12 with emotional and behavioral disabilities, you will provide case management for nine students who have not been successful in a public school setting. With the help of assistant teachers, you'll make a positive and effective impact by implementing accommodations and modifications to county and state curriculum to meet the diverse needs of each learner. You'll also participate as an active member of the Treatment Team to develop an overall strategy to help each child succeed in reaching their full potential. This position requires expertise in implementing curriculum for Middle School and High School level.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWINGOther duties may be assigned as necessary.Maintains a safe learning environment for students within the scope of the Arrow Center for Education administrative policies and procedures. Supervises and manages student behavior in the classroom, school and school-sponsored functions.Provides direct group and individual instruction to students in English/language arts, math, science, social studies and a range of electives and/or other required courses.Prepares and utilizes comprehensive unit plans to instruct groups of approximately nine (9) students. Utilizes academic performance, learning style and clinical information on each student to design and implement curriculum, instructional strategies and materials to address the educational and behavioral needs of each student.li>Provides a learning environment that is stimulating and motivating to students who generally have not adjusted well to school.Assures the timely completion of all necessary paperwork to accurately record student progress. This is to include daily attendance records, grades and behavioral logs.Prepares periodic and special evaluations through the IEP or PEP (as applicable) for assigned students. Reports significant changes in educational and social behavior and makes recommendations for plan changes.Participates as an active member of the Treatment Team. Communicates all appropriate information within and without the classroom orally and in writing.Assists in the development and maintenance of a positive school culture.Maintains proper rules, safety and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary.Shares/transmits the mission and vision of Arrow Child and Family Ministries to staff and to students and families served.Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, Arrow policy, and COA standards.Supervisory responsibilitiesThis position directly supervises staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Arrow Child and Family Ministries policies, State and Federal laws and policy and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance including coaching and future performance development; manages training needs through learning management system; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Maintain quality improvement goals and address at regularly scheduled staff meetings.Education, Licensure and/or ExperienceBachelor's Degree and a valid (issued) State Department of Education Teaching Certificate in the area of Special Education or eligible and willing to obtain the certificate.
