The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energeticindividuals to join the MTA team.DESCRIPTIONThe Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for a Fixed Asset Accountant (Accounting Supervisor I).The Fixed Asset Accountantis a professional position responsible for providing administrative and technical assistance for the accounting of fixed assets containing a portfolio of over $7.5 billion of capital assets, inventory control measures, construction-in-progress, and related functions within the MDOT MTA. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: processing of the accounting activity for all fixed assets acquired, reconciled, reported, transferred, tagged, condemned, and disposed of in compliance with all Department of General Services regulations; conducting audit tests to determine the physical existence of fixed assets; and serving as back-up agency vendor coordinator.This position is located in Baltimore City, MD.QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.Experience: Four (4) years of experience examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles. *Two (2) years of this experience must include utilizing inventory software to record and maintain fixed asset records and supplies.*This statement contains a Selective Qualification, which is more focused in scope than the Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or bonafide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills, or abilities).Notes:1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing, for the required education.2. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974, will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.3. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.4. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of accounting experience.5.
