TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Temporary UI Claims Examiner I in AUSTIN, Texas

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Family Friendly Certified Workplace, is seeking Temporary UI Claims Examiners to join the Collections and Civil Actions, Benefits Collections Unit team within the Regulatory Integrity Division located at 101 E. 15th Street in Austin, Texas. iTemporary appointments may last up to a year or longer.Benefits to working for TWC include:-Competitive starting salary: $2575.91 to $2885.40 per month-Defined Retirement Benefit Plan-Optional 401(k) and 457 accounts-Medical Insurance - Currently, the state pays 100% of the health plan premium for eligible full-time employees and 50% of the premium for their eligible dependents. Eligible part-time employees get a 50% state contribution for themselves and 25% for their dependents. Employees pay the remainder of the premium by paycheck deduction before taxes are withheld.-Optional Benefits such as dental, vision, and life insurance-8 hours sick leave per month-8 hours vacation per month with potential to earn more with longevity-Accrual of Lifetime Service Credit-Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services-Additional benefits for active employees: https://www.ers.texas.gov/Active-Employees/Health-Benefits.The UI Claims Examiner II-III performs complex to advanced unemployment insurance (UI) claims account work in the Regulatory Integrity Division, Collections and Civil Actions Dept., Benefits Overpayment Collections Unit. iWork involves examining claimants' UI records and reports to secure collection of delinquent benefit overpayments. iExaminers administer the provisions of the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act. iGENERAL DUTIES:Work includes a heavy workload of communications via telephone, e-mail and written correspondence with claimants, employers, accountants, attorneys and others to resolve overpayment issues. iWork will include detailed use and familiarity with the TWC Unemployment Benefits automated system to relay to parties how overpayments were established and to provide payment options.iWork may include issuance of past-due notices and review of UI benefit rulings, and other enforcement actions. iWill work with claimants to establish debt repayment plans. iWill work with claimants and other states on interstate collection efforts.iMay assist in overseeing the work of others or provide training when supervisor is unavailable. iMay analyze programs and procedures to recommend changes or upgrades. iPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:6 months to one-year experience in call center or TWC UI benefits computer systemiSkip-tracing, investigations work or collections experience preferredGood communication skills and be able to compose profession business lettersiKnowledge of TWC mainframe computer and MS Windows-based PC applications, including use of Outlook, Word and ExcelAbility to organize and prioritize a workload with multiple task and deadlines. iMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:UI Claims Examiner II: Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification, plus three years of full-time experience performing unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks or in gathering information, interviewing, counseling, or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; or experience in workforce development issues or programs.UI Claims Examiner III: Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification, plus four years of full-time experience performing unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks or in gathering information, interviewing, counseling, or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; or experience in workforce development issues or programs.For both: Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of required experience.A writing test to assess grammar and related skills will be administered at interview. iDue to the sensitive nature of the data t
