Experian Director of Technical Product Management in Austin, Texas

The Experian Partner Solutions product management team is growing rapidly and scaling our ability to deliver products is a key focus of our organizational evolution. The Director of Technical Product Management will play a key leadership role in leading the establishment and scaling of our technical product management function and will drive efficient product delivery by leading coordination of people, programs, and processes in collaboration with our engineering and client services teams.

What you’ll be doing

You will be translating the business vision of the product line managers into clear and actionable requirements, while ensuring that technical delivery teams understand the business context and goals behind those requirements. Overseeing the process of coordinating and scheduling work across multiple technology platforms will be a primary responsibility. This role combines technical program management (ownership of cross-platform development scheduling and coordination), product development process design, people leadership, and creation of effective requirements for the engineering teams. There will be close day-to-day involvement with Agile delivery teams - specifically Scrum Masters, tech leads, and solution architects.

  • Own the scheduling, orchestration, and alignment of multiple product backlogs across multiple technology layers and platforms (technical program management)
  • Lead a team of technical product managers to define requirements based on inputs from product line managers
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to enhance overall product development process efficiency
  • Ensure that engineering teams maintain a solid understanding of the business context driving technical requirements
  • Drive team accountability for on-time/high quality product delivery
  • Collaborate with client services leadership to develop and maintain detailed product delivery plans and schedules

What your background looks like

  • 6-10 years experience in technical product development roles, whether as a technical product manager, software engineer, development manager, business analyst, architect or other technical position
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in people leadership roles in software product development organizations
  • Proven success playing a leadership role on large-scale software development projects
  • Expertise in technical program/product management, especially scheduling of resources and requirements across technology layers and platforms
  • Proven ability to make data-driven decisions while balancing product quality and speed-to-market
  • 4-year degree in a technical discipline
  • Strong preference given to candidates with formal engineering management backgrounds
