Charles Schwab Business Analysis Manager: Workforce Management in Austin, Texas

Your Opportunity

The Operational Services organization at Schwab partners with teams across the firm to deliver on service promises to Schwab clients. We are responsible for protecting and safeguarding the assets of the firm and our clients while continuing to increase scalability and efficiency.

Within Operational Services, the Business Process Transformation team is a cross-functional group that is helping to drive transformation across Operational Services and the broader firm. We use a variety of methodologies, tools and capabilities to drive large-scale change.

This Business Analysis role specializes in capacity planning, making it central to the firm’s scale and efficiency efforts. Capacity planning plays a critical role within Operations in identifying, prioritizing, and solving sophisticated problems while joining with business, finance and other partners to optimize our employee footprint now and in the future.

In particular, this role will work with business leaders to develop short- and long-term forecasts and translate them into strategic, measurable staffing plans. In addition to Schwab’s internal data sources, this role extensively uses Enlighten Operational Excellence software to gather, analyze, and disseminate information upholding the lean and continuous improvement methodologies it is built around. Using these tools, you will supervise volumes and service levels to provide tactical analysis and recommendations. You will empower business leaders to understand the staffing levers available to them and partner to optimize utilization and productivity. You will partner with business leaders to blend quantitative analysis and business judgment to develop robust and highly accurate forecasts and plans. You will be a reciprocal member within our larger Operational Excellence and Organizational Change team that works to impart a continuous improvement mentality throughout Schwab’s Operations division. To this end, you will build tools and develop processes to be owned by the business that embed planning knowledge and behaviors into their day-to-day practices.

What you are good at

  • Facilitating the delivery and interpretation of key operational metric reporting including efficiency, utilization, and productivity

  • Providing strategic insights into the relationship between Operations’ outputs and client outcomes (service levels, cycle times, accuracy, etc.)

  • Implementing enhanced staff management for both onshore and offshore labor by using Enlighten data and expanding loaning and borrowing between departments

  • Delivering measurable perspectives on process, incident, and error waste to enable continuous improvement of existing work practices

  • Facilitating the creation and socialization of standard methodologies for Operations’ leadership across the organization

  • Providing impactful analysis and measurable recommendations for business challenges to mid-level and senior leaders across Operations

  • Developing and delivering training for new Operations leaders on how to best plan for and utilize their resources under dynamic performance scenarios

  • Ensuring accountability by highlighting material variances to plan

  • Providing Finance with staffing requirements for annual budgeting process

  • Managing and advancing capacity planning models, tools, and appropriate documentation

  • Continuously improving our analytic and forecasting abilities

  • Working cross-functionally with partners from across the organization

  • Demonstrating a pragmatic approach to product design and delivery; a ‘bias to action’ and a positive demeanor when approaching sophisticated situations

What you have

This role requires a highly motivated, quantitative, organized, and experienced business-focused professional with a proven record of driving business value through analytics, forecasting, and scenario modeling.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering innovative and strategic outcomes using analytics, financial modeling and forecasting

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, influencing, prioritization, decision- making, and conflict resolution skills; people leading experience is a plus but not mandatory

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; change management experience is a big plus

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in technical field

  • Strong skillset using Excel and the Microsoft Office product suite

  • SQL and Tableau skillset highly desirable but not mandatory for the role

  • 5+ years of experience in finance or analytical role

  • Experience working in the financial services industry is a plus

  • Experience with an asset or investment management firm with a focus on data-related functions highly preferred
