Nature of Work

The Project Manager Professional Research Assistant (PRA)/Sr Professional Research Assistant (Sr PRA) position is a full-time position responsible for providing coordination and leadership in research activities for the State of the States in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Longitudinal Data Project of National Significance. The project investigates long-term supports and services funded predominantly through Medicaid state HCBS Waivers and has been collecting national and state expenditure data for over 30 years. The position is responsible for research integrity, data management, data analysis, manuscript writing, development of translational materials (virtual and print), grant writing and research study collaborations around the topics of national and state expenditures for supports and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Along with open rank, there may be an opportunity to work at additional clinical and/or research settings based on skillset and program needs within the Developmental Projects Administration – Coleman Institute.

Examples of Work Performed

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Significantly contributes to the State of the States in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Project through data collection and analysis of current trends in the states, D.C., and the U.S. Territories in services, supports and spending for people with IDD

  • Acts as project liaison with U.S. Territories, Native American and Alaskan Nations, State Medicaid Offices, State Offices of Developmental Disability Services, and federal partners.

  • Presents at national and local forums on project outcomes, public policy, and topics relevant to people with cognitive disabilities and their families

  • Coordinates and contributes to knowledge translation, product development, data briefs, and website content management

  • Contributes to research on Medicaid and HCBS Waiver services including regular updates to established HCBS Waiver database

  • Contributes to the funding portfolio and project sustainability through research and training grant application and management

  • Contributes to legislative support and advocacy for quality long-term supports and services for people with cognitive disabilities including representation on relevant national workgroups and taskforces.

  • Build and/or maintain relationships with national and international disability advocacy organizations

  • Contributes and drafts manuscripts and project reports

  • Manages technical assistance requests and knowledge translation

  • Provides weekly status reports on grant related activities and progress the PI

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the PI

Salary Offered or Salary Range

PRA

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $35,600 to $55,800.

This salary range represents a level 1 – level 3 PRA.  The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.  The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible

Sr. PRA

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $49,000 to $74,500

This salary range represents a level 1 – level 3 Sr. PRA.  The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.  The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This information represents up to the 50 percentile of the salary range which is reflective of a candidate with 1-7 years of experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Experience with research in data collection and analysis

  • Experience with project management and leadership

  • Experience working directly or with organizations that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities

PRA: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant field.

Senior PRA: Master’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant field, or bachelor’s degree in relevant field, and 5 plus years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competency in writing through publications relevant to intellectual and developmental disabilities, public policy, or economics

  • Knowledge of statistical software systems (SAS, SPSS, Mplus, Excel, etc.)

  • Experience teaching and presenting

  • Experience working with national advocacy organizations and programs supporting people with cognitive disabilities

  • Experience collecting data directly from participants in various forums

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • A demonstrated ability to organize and complete complex projects and to work under tight deadlines.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations to community audiences.

  • Experience developing grant proposals and designing studies

  • Experience working within different platforms for information dissemination
