Nature of Work
The Department of Neurology has an ongoing need for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, or Clinical Nurse Specialist) with strong values and unique skills for our Neurohospitalist Section. This position will provide both acute and chronic direct inpatient and care to Neurologic patients. Successful candidates will have a proven track record in supporting the needs of patients, developing differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments in collaboration with leading specialty providers. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, proactive, caring, detail-oriented, organized, able to think critically, focused on quality, and dedicated to personal growth.
The position is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Hours will vary depending on clinical schedules and department/hospital needs - will be determined at time of offer. Specialty
This APP will work in the Neurohospitalist / Stroke Section within the Department of Neurology, which consists of several physician providers, fellows, and APPs. This position provides inpatient and emergency department consultations throughout the hospital and will engage and collaborate with colleagues across the Department of Neurology, University of Colorado Hospitals, and external constituents.
Examples of Work Performed
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Screen, evaluate, diagnose, manage medications, and provide disease counseling
Acute and chronic outpatient care of patients with neurological disease including symptomatic therapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care
Serves as first contact for clinician level patient communications
Engages in collaborative team-based care to make informed decisions for patient care
Support and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff, physician assistants, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents
Periodic educational presentation of lectures to patients and others
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position has been established at:
Instructor $85,000 -$110,000.
Sr. Instructor $90,000 -$115,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Instructor
Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree
License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado
Experience and desire to work with patients with chronic, and sometimes severe illness
Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems
Significant experience working with neurological patients and/or experience with inpatient care
Senior Instructor
Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree
License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado
Experience and desire to work with patients with chronic, and sometimes severe illness
Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems
Significant experience working with neurological patients and/or experience with inpatient care
Preferred Qualifications : (not required but may be used to narrow down the applicant pool)
Experience working in a primary care medicine setting
Knowledge of University of Colorado Health Hospitals
Background in neuroscience
Experience completing documentation using Epic
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
