BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is office and administrative support work. The successful applicant will be a collaborative member of a small team of people whose primary responsibility is performing complex varied office support tasks working directly with customers and agents in person, on the phone, through the internet, and by mail providing oral and written information explaining various licensing and registration requirements in accordance with office standards. The selected candidate will be required to learn and know State of Maine laws that pertain to licensing and registrations. This position is primarily responsible for providing phone support to the Department’s license and registration agents. The position is also responsible for posting agent payments, making agent account adjustments, and reconciling agent accounts. This position will also be responsible for assisting customers at the counter and over the phone for licenses and registrations. The successful candidate should have extensive experience in the use of computers and various computer applications. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in working with the public over the phone and with basic accounting tasks such as posting payments, making account adjustments, and account reconciliation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.
