American Express Manager - Finance in Augusta, Maine
This position serves as a key member of the Global Rewards Center of Excellence (COE), reporting to the Director Controller, providing control and financial statement oversight for the US & LACC Rewards programs. The successful candidate will serve as an advisor to business partners across multiple business units (including GCSG and GCS), consulting on finance, accounting, and control practices for key business-driven rewards initiatives. Additionally, this position will work closely within the wider team to drive specific Rewards-related projects.
The successful candidate should have familiarity with American Express financial systems, operational and technical accounting, internal controls, overall business acumen along with very strong interpersonal skills.
The Manager is responsible for:
Supporting US & LACC portion of the Global Rewards COE, including ensuring the accuracy of the US Rewards Liability and Rewards Expense and supporting the monthly/quarterly Rewards accounting close process including reporting.
Advisory to business partners to ensure accounting and control integrity of Rewards related projects.
Driving automation and efficiencies.
Enhancing and maintaining an extensive and robust control environment for the E2E US Rewards process.
Ensure global compliance with the Global Rewards Policy, GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Support Director-Controller in the ownership of key rewards technology systems; interface with reporting systems and interaction with multiple technologies groups.
Identify accounting and reporting issues and support root cause investigation and resolution.
Ensuring Rewards projects are completed with appropriate control and finance requirements.
5 years work experience in Controllership, Accounting or Finance with a degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA/MBA a plus.
Proven analytical skills; knowledge of Rewards or the loyalty industry is a plus.
Exceptional commitment and proven adherence to quality and accuracy.
Proven self-leadership supporting critical processes with tight deadlines and high visibility to senior management.
Proficient knowledge of finance systems and processes.
Strong communication and relationship skills.
