Guardian Angels Senior Services Certified Home Health Aide in Auburn, Massachusetts

SUMMARY: Guardian Angel Senior Services in Auburn is seeking to fill several HOME HEALTH AIDE (HHA) positions for home-based clients in the Worcester County area. Flexible hours 10-60 hrs/wk., all shifts, $13-15/hr. depending on experience. DUTIES: Supervise and assist client with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Encourage self-help or participation in activities to maintain independence including prescribed exercise programs which may include range of motion (ROM) exercises, and walking Provide/assist with skin care by turning and repositioning client as prescribed; and providing care to pressure point areas (back rubs), and observing/reporting changes in skin or physical condition; inform supervisor of any change in client condition or family situation Assist/guide client in transfer process from bed to chair, commode or other devices Assist in elimination process by giving bedpan, urinal, or bringing client to the bathroom; changing undergarments or emptying catheter bags, including measuring/recording intake and output and sanitizing all DMEs Assist in giving client bath (complete, partial, tub, or shower); assisting with oral hygiene, shaving and hair care Take/record vital signs (temperature, pulse, and respirations) Changes simple dressing (non-sterile dressing only) and report changes in wound status Shop for food/household supplies, and plan/prep/serves meals according to dietary instructions Maintain clean, safe environment for client by performing household services including cleaning/changing bed linens, cleaning floors with mop and/or vacuuming; cleaning bathroom and kitchen, and do laundry/ironing Use/maintain special equipment and supplies appropriately Participate in the development and implementation of established care plans communicating changes with office staff Accompany client outside the home when permitted Document in communication book; record/report any changes in symptoms, reactions or responses to Supervisor accurately and timely Remind client to take prescribed medications ordinarily self-administered (in certain approved situations administer/apply medications) Test urine for sugar and acetone and record/report results Perform additional tasks assigned by the primary nurse or therapist, depending on situation, on the HHA's experience REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED Min. age 18 Valid Driver License Must be committed to the rights of seniors/disabled people to live dignified lives and flexible/sensitive to the needs of others Must be reliable, and able to cope with emergencies Completed the required training program or certification Must be able to read, write, and speak English in order to understand/carry out directions and instructions Must be able to record messages and keep records Must be physically and emotionally capable of performing the job and lift up to 75 lbs. Must have good oral/written communication, diplomacy, time management, customer relations, planning, and presentation skills Must have aptitude for math and reading skills Must be computer literate and have access to the Internet Must be able to pass CORI check and physical Experience in prior home care, a plus Additional certifications (CPR Certification, Alzheimer Certification, etc.), a plus COMPLETE ONLINE APPLICATION
