CharterUP VP of Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia

About This Role

We are looking to add a VP of Engineering to the team. We are looking for someone who understands software architecture, data modeling, and object-oriented programming concepts. You are a hands on coder. You have architected and created enterprise grade solutions. You have had full product ownership. You have led and mentored other developers. You have demonstrated the ability to create software products from conception to adoption. You have promoted your product to others and have watched it gain users and value over time.   • Architect platform features with an extreme focus client experience, usability, and quality.

  • Specify technical implementation and acceptance criteria.

  • Collaborate with engineering team members to develop our next generation travel platform.

  • Work with Product Team members to create UX designs and technical requirements.

  • Efficiently roll out features from concept to product.

  • Mentor junior engineers.


  • 4 year bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar discipline

  • 10+ years experience as a hands on full stack developer

  • Heavy back end expertise, preferably in Java Spring Boot or nodeJS.

  • Heavy front end expertise with modern javascript frameworks, preferably Vue or React or Angular.

  • Significant end-to-end coding and architecture contributions to prior products.


Every new hire, regardless of location, will work remotely for at least the next few months until it is safe to return to the office nationwide. After the COVID situation passes, CharterUP prefers relocation to Atlanta. However, long-term CharterUP is open to employees working remotely or from CharterUP's satellite offices in SF and NYC.

Tech Team Application Process

  • Candidate submits CharterUP online application

  • Resumes encouraged to be at most one page in length

  • Candidate may be asked to submit a sample of their work or complete a quick hack

  • Interviews

  • Candidate to meet with various members of the dev team, including CTO, product leads, and senior engineers

  • Candidate to meet with founder, head of recruiting, or other members of the executive team

  • Testing

  • Coding exercise

  • General aptitude assessment

  • Offer

  • Background and reference checks prior to formal offer
