The Chick-fil-A Tax Department is responsible for tax compliance, technology, special projects, research and audit defense functions for independently-owned franchised restaurants and corporate activities. We exist to provide tax planning, regulatory reporting and consulting to stakeholders, governments, external auditors and business leaders. As we grow in complexity and global footprint, we seek to influence business decisions, reduce tax liability and mitigate risk.
The Principal Tax Counsel’s primary responsibilities include technical tax research, writing technical memorandums, and discussing research, analysis, and conclusions with senior leadership.
Perform technical tax research relative to substantive federal, state, and local tax issues on assigned projects
Plans and directs projects and/or outcomes and provides technical leadership and consultation to co-workers with significant technical expertise and knowledge
Writes technical tax memorandums
Discusses research, analysis, and conclusions with senior management
Liaison to the Cathy Family Office on tax matters
Project management for large projects
Thorough working knowledge of tax rules and regulations
Leads and/or participates on cross functional teams
Typically assists with or leads the selection and oversight (including assistance with financial and/or budgetary management) of outside partners and professionals to effectively deliver outcomes and result
5 or more years of tax experience
If you do not have an LLM or Master of Laws, a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax is required
