Whether you have many years of experience or are in the early stages on your career, you can find a rewarding position at Grady!SUMMARYThe Senior Poison Information Specialist serves as a knowledge resource to the lay community in the event of a poisoning emergency, and uses independent judgment to help physicians plan the optimum management of toxicological problems. The individual evaluates the toxic hazards and initiates appropriate management of toxicological emergencies, potential rabies exposures, and other public health related problems presented by the lay public and healthcare professional callers. This position interacts with government emergency resources in organizing a response to toxic emergencies, reports all potential rabies exposures to Georgia Department of Public Health, and represents the poison center through community health programs. This position also facilitates training and supervising of junior members of the poison center staff, house staff, medical/pharmacy students, and other health care professionals.QUALIFICATIONSBaccalaureate degree and/or degree in Pharmacy, Nursing (to include Associate Degree), Medical Doctor degree or similar health care profession as defined for eligibility for certification as Poison Information Specialist as defined by the American Association of Poison Control Centers required.Training and experience within the medical health field as a pharmacist, nurse, or medical doctor required.Four (4) years (8,000 hours or more) of experience as a Specialist in Poison Information (SPI) required.Must be currently certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers (examination required) and maintain certification (required)Must have unrestricted current health care license (required)Knowledge of the toxicological applications of human physiology, chemistry pharmacology, action of drug, chemical and biologic toxins, information resources and their applications, pertinent toxicological literature, medical terminology, systems of emergency management of this region required.Equal Opportunity Employer-Minorities/Females/Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity.EOE-Females/Minorities/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities.
