What you’ll be doing:
Develop content, including materials to explain infection control guidelines and recommendations for social media, web content, blogs, public presentations, prepared public responses; ensure that all materials are based in science and are audience appropriate.
Provide writing, updating, and development support, including working with subject matter experts to support a infection control training curriculum toolkit that may include social media cards, slides, facilitator and participant guides, training scripts, creative posters and other creative educational materials.
Provide writing assistance for internal communication tools (e.g., NCEZID internal newsletter or written communications from the Director, such as PowerPoints or Dear Colleague Letters), projects, and events (e.g., All Hands meetings).
Collaborate with CDC’s Communication Services and other relevant Project Firstline partners to create graphics, video, and images to convey information. Ensure that communication pieces are graphically interesting and that graphics are used well to convey the content of messages; submit products through the clearance process and ensure that proper approvals of communication pieces have been secured in a timely way, and before they are published.
Ensure that all communications materials follow best practices for health education, risk communication, and plain language by following the CDC communications policies and format.
Assist CDC scientific and policy staff in responding to requests for information, presentations, and other events by creating messaging, slide sets, prepared responses, and handouts.
Contribute to web, collateral, messaging, graphics, timeline, planning, and project management. This includes developing content and working with Creative Services.
Participate in meetings as representative of the DHQP communications team and provide meeting updates/summaries to relevant team members.
Proactively identify, research, and resolve problems or issues; participate in team strategy sessions to discuss solutions. Proactively recommend updated strategies to improve analysis tactics and outreach efforts.
Format and send Adobe Campaign (or other email subscription platform) messages, format and post Safe Healthcare blog entries, moderate (review/approve/triage and/or respond to) blog comments, and/or use the WCMS to update or edit DHQP Intranet content. Use Sharepoint for workflow/task management.
Follow Section 508 guidelines when preparing electronic documents that will be posted online or distributed via email. Use HHS Checklists to help ensure compliance with the guidelines.
Develop communication strategies and recommendations using communication expertise, including product development and strategies for disseminating information, including recommendations on communicating messages through distribution channels like web pages, texting programs, video, blogs, social media, and news media channels.
Assist with formative research and coordination of gathering, organizing, and editing metrics. Analyze and extrapolate solutions after reviewing data.

What is required:
Bachelor’s Degree combined with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of health communication or health education
Master’s Degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in the field of health communication or health education
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
