Devises the public and media relations strategy for the school, including writing and distributing press releases and advisories, coordinating media interviews and tracking appearances and mentions, and will serve as a liaison with the Main Campus Office of Communications.
Establishes and maintains relationships with reporters through letters, telephone calls, and personal visits. Creates media opportunities. Responds to incoming media inquiries and prioritizes media coverage
Proactively pitches stories to the media about faculty, research, student experiences and/or achievements, and offers faculty experts to the media on timely topics. Plans and conducts public relations programs, which may include fact sheets, news releases, photographs, advertisements, brochures, and official university publications both print and digital.
Manages efforts to get the business school in popular press and publications, to raise the perception of the departments, faculty and graduates. Works with faculty to develop op-ed (short opinion pieces) for newspapers and radio talk shows.
Crafts communications for the internal community relating to academic and student life issues, news and events, staff initiatives, strategic planning initiatives, and special projects managed by the Dean's Office, including community engagement and cross-campus partnerships, alumni engagement, new student and faculty orientations.
Serves as the primary spokesperson for the business school and, as the crisis management adviser to the dean, provides proactive solutions on the best way to respond to crisis situations and to the media.
In management of the larger communications team, orchestrates a content calendar across student and alumni areas, and coordinates with programs, admissions and other units to disseminate this information through the most advantageous channels for prospective audiences.
A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field.
