Air Force Materiel Command Recycling Center Manager in Arnold AFB, Tennessee

This position will be assigned to the Recycling Center on Arnold AFB.

This position works Monday- Friday 0630-3pm

Position works indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions and lifting of up to 100 pounds This is a working Manager position

Position requires 3 year driving record

Position range of pay dependent upon experience

Responsibilities

Manages the activities of the Recycling Operations Center. Exercises supervision, technical coordination and oversight. Directs and supervises personnel assigned to the Recycling Center to include subordinate tasks, work schedules and flow of operation. Schedules and approves leave and maintains time and attendance for NAF employees. Evaluates employee performance and resolves performance and discipline problems. Plans, organizes and allocates work priority for efficient workflow in support of the sale of recycling commodities. Administers billing and tracking of all direct sales to approved sources. Maintains tracking and inventory of all commodities generated by the Recycling Center. Responsible for acquiring training for employees in the areas of safety, fire protection, PPE and resource protection. Builds annual marketing plan and establishes goals. Plans, establishes and implements applicable administrative procedures and operating instructions. Ensures employee compliance with operator manuals of equipment, regulatory laws and AF and facility instruction and policy. Develops and establishes operation guidelines to implement procedures, methods, collection routes and other work related changes. Inspects mechanical and electrical equipment such as bailing machines, conveyor systems, compacting units, front loaders, forklifts and other equipment at the Recycling Center and ensures repair or maintenance is handled in a timely manner to minimize impact to the operation. Prepares data for quarterly status reports to Environmental. Operates vehicles of gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 10,000 lbs and a 1 1/2 ton stake bed truck (GVW 10,000 - 26,000 lbs) with lift gate. Vehicles are driven on the basis of specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules over public roads (or the equivalent) at highway speeds or less to transport supplies, materials, or equipment and tools or to tow equipment throughout on an off-base. Frequently loads and unloads cargo by hand, ensuring all cargo is properly loaded, unloaded and secured for transport to prevent damage or loss in transit. Supervises and assists in the collection of recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans, pallets, product drums and scrap metal. Manages the inventories of recycling containers for placement at various locations on Arnold Air Force Base. Inspects recycling equipment for cleanliness and insures all equipment is clean and in good working order. Responsible for work force management, recruitment and staff training. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:

Applicant must have progressively responsible supervisory experience which provided general knowledge and understanding of administrative and technical work relative to the recycling program. Must have skill in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing up to 26,000 pounds. Ability to gather information and compile reports. Ability to plan, organize, establish goals, identify and resolve problems, and to communicate effectively and deal effectively with individuals and groups. Must be able to exert moderate physical effort and be able to handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
