Amazon Arlington HQ Front End Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

Audit and Evaluate AWS resources

AWS Config is the foundation service that customers rely on to manage the configuration, and adherence to IT policy, for their cloud resources. Our customers include a large community of developers who create resources like Config rules and Conformance Packs. We are looking for an experienced Engineer who will create an extensive site that will enable developers to create, test, deploy and share their artifacts with the larger AWS Config community.

As an engineer on AWS Config, your job will be to work with an outstanding development team to implement a first-in-class experience for Config developers and contribute to one of the largest cloud resource management and compliance systems in the world. You will own solutions from design and execution through deployment and support, using the best of available tools. You will be responsible for holding the code quality high, even as we optimize our development processes to better serve our customers.

Work/Life Balance

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. Our entire team is located in the Virginia Office with Config sister teams in Seattle office. We’re also flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm.

On-Call Responsibility

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

You will be expected to mentor and guide junior engineers. You will engage with the open source community, listening to their feedback to improve the experience and helping to drive long term vision with the larger Config team.

We are looking for candidate who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where delivery of new products and features is very rapid. AWS Config is one of the most critical requirements for large enterprises moving to AWS.

The right candidate will possess proven software engineering skills, respected for contributing to open source communities and understand how to build the best tools for developers to be effective. You are expected to be versatile and able to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and are able to bring order to ambiguous scenarios. Maturity, high judgment, ability to influence and leadership are essential to success in this role. You are data-driven and analytical. You can clearly & effectively communicate (written as well as verbally) across organizations and up to senior leadership.


· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

· 3+ years of professional development.

· Skilled with common - technologies such as JS, TypeScript, and Node

· Deep experience in one or more relevant - frameworks such as React, Angular, JQuery, etc.

· Experience building reusable UI components or libraries

· Ability to rapidly prototype and adjust in response to customer feedback

· Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

· Solid coding practices including peer code reviews, unit testing, and a preference for agile development.


· Masters degree in CS or an engineering discipline

· 5+ years of professional development.

· Strong UI design skills
