This position is located in the Human Resources Division, Suitability Unit in Arlington VA. The incumbent will perform the following duties: Performs clerical and assistance functions in support of the suitability and personnel security programs for all agency applicants. Performs the initial processing review of requests for security clearances, securing documents and data that support the clearance of applicants for entry or re-entry into DEA employment. Assists in the quality control process to ensure that Personnel Security Specialists are provided complete and accurate documentation in a timely manner. Reviews all the documentation and notes the presence or absence of derogatory information and, when identified, notifies the Personnel Security Specialist. Assesses various data through automated systems.
Conditions of Employment
GS-07: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 Federal grade level performing such duties as gathering and compiling information; reviewing paperwork for accuracy, errors, and completeness; providing assistance to other personnel; operating various computer programs/databases to produce program actions (i.e. credit checks, security screenings, criminal checks, etc.); maintaining the security of sensitive files and records. GS-08: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 Federal grade level performing such duties as gathering and compiling information; reviewing paperwork for accuracy, errors, and completeness; providing assistance to senior level management and other personnel; assessing documents received for the security application process for completeness and advising on incomplete packages; operating various computer programs/databases to produce program actions (i.e. credit checks, security screenings, criminal checks, etc.); maintaining the security of sensitive files and records; and providing program guidance and advice.
